Working to Break the Cycle of Poverty

Access Education - Guatemala Children's Fund is dedicated to ensuring that every child has access to education by providing vital funding to schools. Our commitment extends beyond financial support as we actively work on the ground to break the cycle of poverty.

One of our key initiatives is building schools in areas where educational facilities are lacking. By constructing new schools, we create opportunities for children who previously had limited access to education. Over the years, our efforts have resulted in the enrollment of hundreds of children, empowering them to overcome poverty and ignorance.

We firmly believe in the power of collaboration with communities and the children themselves. Together, we are making a tangible difference and breaking down the barriers that hinder educational opportunities. Scholarships by Numbers
Our Goal: To Create Schools Where None Exist in the
Department of Quetzaltenango
Our mission is to create schools in the area of Coatepeque, Quetzaltenago in the small villages that surround the larger city. While there are schools in operation in most towns, they are usually too small to accommodate more children.

It is not unusual to find a school with 15 classrooms and 800 children. There are also very few public Middle Schools, and even fewer secondary schools. That has to change.

Kindergarten through University
In 2006, children in La Union, Coatepeque only had a few years of elementary education before dropping out for labor. Today, 95% of elementary graduates move on to Middle School, with multiple graduations enabling further studies.
Our students pursue diverse paths in community colleges, from auto mechanics to computer programming. Careers at the university level include business administration, audit, middle school teaching, psychology, and agronomy engineering.
We have visited and known students working at different places as a chef at a 4-star hotel in Quetzaltenango, a welder at the biggest water and amusement park in Guatemala, a cashier at banks, a customs officer at Guatemala's largest Pacific Ocean port, technical services for Guatemala´s tax administration service, and others working at courier companies, a famous beverage company, and Guatemala´s judicial organism.
Education is transforming lives in La Union.
